Every morning, the small square across from the church vibrates with the sights and sounds of the daily market. Some vendors are permanent fixtures, operating stalls selling everything from fresh baked bread to shoes and plastic baskets. Other vendors come only occasionally, spreading a blanket on the ground on those days when they have something to offer and leaving when their supply is sold.
Several days a week, Elena comes here to sell things ranging from alfalfa to feed the livestock to fresh-made tamales. She or one of her daughters come here daily to buy food.
