Photography for me is a way to really dig below the surface of the places I go. It forces me to actually observe, rather than just look. And it pushes me into experiences that have made my travels exponentially richer (ever ended up as a pallbearer in a Zapotec funeral procession? I wouldn't have without my photography!).
